More than 100 women in the village of Soatanana in Madagascar formed a co-op in 2003 to join forces in creating lambas, one of the world’s most unique textile products. With no electricity or running water, the women create beautiful scarves and wraps completely from scratch — from gathering the silk cocoons to weaving and dying the yarn. Their skill and products are truly remarkable. These scarves, sometimes called Malagasy silks, are worn by men and women. Read more about them here.
